Introducing our new flexible license structure

Since Rentman was launched a decade ago, it has always been an all-in-one solution with the same features available to every user. Along the way, we have continuously added new features and improvements to meet the changing needs of our users.

During the past year, we’ve been meeting with Rentman users from all around the world, listening to their wants and needs, and trying to understand how we can make Rentman a better fit for them. One of the many lessons we’ve learned was how important it was for them to have a more flexible version of Rentman.

You spoke, we listened. We are excited to announce that we are now introducing a flexible license structure that will allow all of our users to customize their Rentman accounts to their business needs.

In this blog post, you will find more information on the changes that we've made to our licenses.

I. Changes we've made to our licenses and pricing

🚀 Bye-bye Rentman Lite, Classic, and Pro

👋 Hello Rentman Platform, Products, and Add-ons

As of today, November 10th, 2021, Rentman’s Lite, Classic, and Pro licenses will no longer be available to new users. We are now introducing Rentman as a platform that can be customized with different products and add-ons.

Why are we making these changes?

After listening to lots of feedback from our users, we’ve discovered that many of them use Rentman for different purposes. Some people use Rentman to book their equipment, some use Rentman to manage their crew, some use Rentman to send quotes, and the list goes on...

With our old license structure, all of these users would choose one of our Lite, Classic, or Pro Rentman licenses and would have to pay for many features they would never use. Why should a business that only uses Rentman to manage its inventory pay for crew scheduling features?

Since many of our users do not use Rentman in the same way, we believed that it was only fair to give them the option to only pay for the features that they would need. To give them this option, we had to make some changes to our licenses, and the Rentman Platform was the perfect solution.

Offering Rentman as a platform would allow businesses that only use Rentman for event staffing to choose Rentman’s Crew Scheduling product. And, businesses that only use Rentman to manage their inventory can choose Rentman’s Equipment Scheduling product.

These changes also give new users the possibility to start using Rentman to cover their main needs and expand as they grow. For example, an event production company could start using Rentman to scan and track their equipment. Then, when they become familiar with using the software, they can start adding products like Crew Scheduling or add-ons like Quoting & Invoicing to their license. This makes their learning process much easier and speeds up how fast they can start using Rentman.

How do our new licenses work?

Rentman is now available as a platform that can be customized with different products and add-ons. When you create an account, you will pay one base fee for the Rentman Platform and additional fees based on the number of products, add-ons, and power users that you choose.

Your Rentman workspace is now called the Rentman Platform. You can use the Rentman Platform to collaborate on projects, manage tasks, and make sure the right information finds the right people.

The two main products that you can add to the Rentman Platform at this time are Crew Scheduling and Equipment Scheduling. These products are available in different tiers (Essentials, Standard and Pro) and can be purchased individually or together if you want to use Rentman as an all-in-one platform.

In addition to this, you can customize the products that you choose with add-ons such as Quoting & Invoicing, and Equipment Tracking.

We believe that this new flexible license structure would allow all of our users to customize their accounts to their business needs and they would no longer have to pay for features that they would never use.

A complete summary of the pricing of the new licenses and features that are included in each product and add-on can be found on our pricing page.

II. How will these changes affect you?

If you were already using Rentman before November 8th, 2021, your current license is now transformed to a “Legacy license”.

This means that you will keep all of the features that you currently have access to, you will continue paying the same monthly price as before and you will be able to adjust the number of power users that you currently have.

We will be updating and improving Rentman like you’re used to from us. However, if you would like to access some of the features that we will release in the future, you will need to transition to one of our new licenses.

If you are interested in upgrading your account to one of our new licenses, you will need to be on the latest version of Rentman (from version 300 and onwards) and you will have to reach out to us at [email protected].

If you start using Rentman from November 8th, 2021, and onwards, you will have to create a plan and choose the products and add-ons that you want to use on our pricing page.
