Inventory counting

Inventory Count – Get your equipment quantities up to date

We all certainly know the world is going through difficult times. While the whole industry is affected by the lack of events, time is the one thing you have on your side. Because of this, we have looked for new ways to help you make the most out of this period.

If you find yourself with extra time on your hands, you might find it useful to do some of the things that have been on your to-do list for a long time. What better time than now to tackle some of these long standing tasks? One of those postponed tasks on your to-do list might be to go through your inventory and check if everything is still there and where it should be.

However carefully you track your equipment, some items could have gotten lost or stolen without anyone reporting it. Doing an inventory count will make sure your quantities are up to date again. That way, you can truly ensure you only plan what you actually have.

To help you with this, we’ve developed an inventory count feature. This makes it easy to see if what is on your shelves still adds up to your numbers in Rentman.

How it works

First, you will count all the items you have in your warehouse and enter the numbers in Rentman. You can do this by scanning or manually entry. Rentman will then show you for each item if you have a surplus, shortage or if everything is correct.

After the count is finished you have a full overview of all inconsistencies between your Rentman data and warehouse numbers. You can then automatically update all the equipment quantities to the numbers you counted. Note that this only works for items with an entered amount. Items for which the quantity is determined by the amount of serial numbers have to be manually adjusted.

If you want to check everything with pen and paper, you can create an export of the inventory count and put in the numbers later.

How to get started

There are multiple ways to perform an inventory count in Rentman. You can either start with a blank list, a selection of all your equipment, or a subset.

Head over to your equipment module. Select all items (or a subset if you want) and then click the ‘More actions’ button [...]. From there, you can choose ‘Counting inventory’.

To start with a blank list: Go to the Maintenance module and select the ‘inventory count’ tab.
